Kareracter began as something deeply personal. Our founder, Karen Spears, is an award-winning lettering artist — someone who has always believed that handwriting is more than marks on a page. It's personality made visible. Every person's signature is uniquely their own. She built Kareracter on that same idea: that every brand has a distinct personality, as specific and irreplaceable as a handwritten signature. Our job is to find it, shape it, and send it into the world with confidence.

Since 2015, we've grown from Karen's lettering practice into a full multidisciplinary creative studio — working with nonprofits, foundations, advocacy organizations, and culturally-rooted brands across the country. We are based in Chicago. We are minority-owned. And we bring both of those identities into everything we make.
